Mike Merrick's diversified background in the entertainment field includes: public relations for Mike Wallace & Barbara Walters, was responsible for launching the first US tour of the BEATLES in 1964,created publicity campaigns for major motion pictures including "Live For Life", "David & Lisa", "A Man For All Seasons", "Requiem for a Heavyweight", and "The Miracle Worker". In addition Mike was the architect of the marketing campaign for "The Spy Who Came In From The Cold" John Le Carre's first novel, and Motown Records initial marketing campaign to introduce their company. Mike was a concert promoter and manager to Harry Belefonte, a relationship that lasted over twenty-four years.
Mike's 'legitimate theater' producing career began when he conceived the play "Clarence Darrow" starring Henry Fonda and produced this play on Broadway and London's West End.
His additional producing credits include "The Belle of Amherst", "My Fair Lady", "Camelot", "Passion Play", "Strangers", "Copperfield", "The School of Night", and "Lautrec" for Broadway & London stages and for HBO presentation.
Mike was nominated for an Emmy Award, and was awarded the Christopher Award, The Peabody Award, and the coveted Tony Award.
